A robust core, metro and access network

The partnership started in earnest in 2007, when nLogic established an MPLS based core network built on Juniper Networks MX routers. The core has since grown with the business, and in 2018 it was upgraded to meet current and future needs for 100G transport. In the metro network, which handles distribution and aggregation, Eidsiva Bredbånd uses the Juniper ACX platform to distribute MPLS transport, together with Juniper EX switches and BRAS/BNG. For business customers, Juniper EX is used as the access switch, mainly the fanless model.

As the number of customers grew, so did the need for IP addresses. In 2013, Eidsiva Bredbånd chose a Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) solution from nLogic, based on A10 Networks technology, to solve the shortage of IPv4 addresses. The solution proved its value and was expanded in 2016.

Certified Carrier Ethernet, wireless and optical transport

In spring 2016, Eidsiva Bredbånd became the first Norwegian broadband provider with MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification. nLogic supplied MEF certified NID/CPE from Accedian and supported the certification process by integrating Accedian into the existing Juniper core network.

The partnership also extends beyond the fibre network. Eidsiva Bredbånd provides internet to all cabins and properties operated by SkiStar in Trysil, and when the wireless network there was upgraded in 2017, nLogic delivered Ruckus Wireless access points, centrally managed by a controller. From 2017 to 2019, nLogic also delivered a new active optical WDM transport network based on 100G/200G from Infinera’s XTM Series, giving Eidsiva Bredbånd high capacity transport across its network.

We thank Eidsiva Bredbånd for the partnership and trust so far, and look forward to continuing our work together in the years ahead.
